CHARGES of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide, serious physical injuries and damage to property were filed Thursday morning, June 13, 2019, against the driver of the 10-wheeler truck involved in the crash on Tuesday that claimed 10 lives, including that of a three-year-old child.

Colonel Alexander Tagum, director of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), confirmed that at around 9 a.m. Thursday, they filed the case before the court against the driver identified as Joel Sinampay Aras, 36, a resident of Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.

Aras apologized to the families of the victims of the incident. His 10-wheeler truck, which was carrying sacks of rice, was traveling at high speed when it mowed down vehicles at the junction Matina Pangi Road and Carlos P. Garcia Highway.

The driver said he lost control of the brake near the gas station along the Carlos P. Garcia Highway and rammed through the moving and parked vehicles.

The incident killed 10 persons. One remains in critical condition at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

He is currently under the custody of the Talomo Police Station.
