Command center soon to rise

A COMMAND center will rise in Baguio City backed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Baguio City mayor-elect Benjamin Magalong announced the rise of a unified command center for peace and order, traffic and disaster management.

Magalong confirmed the commitment of the President for the construction of multi-million command center and said the site for this is being identified and is eying the CBAO building or the CDRRMC building at the City Engineering Office compound.

The command center will assess traffic solutions as well as carrying capacity of roads.

Magalong said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be pledging their expertise to the city with a team of engineers.

The MMDA will conduct a traffic simulation to obtain data to be able to analyze and do interventions.

Magalong said studies show there were 56,000 vehicles recorded in the city in 2017 which challenges the capacity of trees in the city to absorb the carbon emissions.

The retired police general said plans to capacitate the traffic management office of the city is also underway with seminars for personnel scheduled also at the MMDA to be able to strengthen the office team in management of traffic.
