3 nabbed in anti-drug operations

THREE people, including a top drug personality and a businessman, were arrested while some P552,600 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations in the region, the police said Friday, June 14.

Police Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested drug personalities as Munir Adjid, 42, businessman; Ariel Buhian, 52, and Kent Martinez, 19.

Quidilla said Adjid was arrested in a drug bust around 2 p.m. Thursday at Sitio Barigon in Tugbungan village, Zamboanga City.

Recovered from his possession were some 75 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in four plastics sachets with an estimated street value of P510,000 and drug bust money, he said.

Quidilla said Buhian yielded some P8,600 worth of suspected shabu packed in five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets when he was arrested around 5 p.m. Wednesday in Upper Calarian village, this city. Also recovered from him was P300 marked money.

He said Martinez was caught in possession of some four grams of suspected shabu worth P34,000 when arrested around 3 p.m. Thursday at Purok Veterans in Veterans Village, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Quidilla said also recovered from Martinez, who is listed as the Top 9 drug personality in Ipil, were P500 marked money.

The police director said cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
