Pangan: Some patriotic fervor

WE COULD not approximate the nationalistic qualities and tendencies of the Japanese, Koreans and even the Vietnamese and Chinese, although the latter may have diminished nationalistic inclinations due to some extraneous influences.

We pledge allegiance to the flag which symbolizes our nationhood, but some of us trivialize its importance, significance and role in our nation building.

Even our national leaders have the tendency to sell parts of our territory, if not our sovereignty, in exchange for the promised protection from the "invading" country.

Now, it's China's turn to "invade" our country because we allow it. Thousands are now working here on jobs which should have been given to our country mates. There are published lists of Chinese nationals who were given Alien Certificates of Employment by the Department of Labor and Employment and more will follow suit.

Few of us can really claim that we love our country deeply, earnestly.

At the sight of a foreign country's visa, we will choose to migrate to earn a better living. Now, who can blame us for losing some patriotic fervor?

Now that they are securely ensconced as councilor of Angeles City, I hope they would be more prolific in their legislative work: Joseph "PG" Ponce and Joseph Alfie Bonifacio.

Joseph "PG" still maintains a good rapport with the transport sector of the city while Alfie is expected to continue with his free dentures and extraction program for the marginalized sector of Angeles City and elsewhere.

This time I will see Alfie with a lighter load of engagements and will find more time to improve further his local legislative work.

Pareng Gasmin intimated to me that his son, Angel Joseph, was once again confined in the hospital due to his old illness including low platelets, etc. He showed me a calling card of Dr. Jerome Gallistre who specializes in Orthomolecular and Naturopathic medicine. Said doctor attended to Angel Joseph. Gasmin wishes to thank this modern doctor.
