PLDT, Tranglo forge partnership

LEADING telecommunications and digital services provider PLDT’s subsidiary PLDT Global Corporation (PGC) is expanding its partnership with international airtime remittance hub Tranglo.

Founded in 2008, Tranglo is a secure technology platform that enables payment service providers and businesses to perform cross-border payouts, prepaid reloads and digital conveniences. Since 2011, Tranglo has been an active partner of PGC.

In 2013, the Malaysia-based remittance company also teamed up with Smart to boost aid for survivors of Typhoon Yolanda.

Aside from Smart, TNT, and Sun products, Filipinos overseas may now avail Free Bee PINs in Tranglo channels and service centers in Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and other Southeast Asian countries.

Free Bee is an advertising-based voice service that delivers high-quality IDD calls to the Philippines for free. For longer calls and ad-free experience, users have the option to buy Premium Free Bee Voice buckets at affordable rates - as low as 1 US cent per minute - from global retailers or via in-app and online purchases.

“This partnership with Tranglo through Free Bee helps us achieve our goal to empower global Filipinos with innovative products and services which would enable them to communicate without borders,” said Albert Villa-Real, chief commercial officer at PLDT Global.

Tranglo founder Sia Hui Yong said they are "very excited" to collaborate with PGC on its new product.

He added that Free Bee, on the back of Tranglo’s technology and expertise, can offer more affordable call options for Filipinos living and working abroad.

This is the latest in a series of partnerships forged by PLDT Global to serve more Filipinos all over the world.

Tranglo is a cross-border payment hub with a proven track record in business payment, foreign remittance and mobile payment solutions.

The firm maintains offices in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Dubai and London, with a global network spanning more than 100 countries, supporting 250 mobile operators, 50 billers, 600 banks/wallets and 90,000 cash pickup points. To find out more, visit www.tranglo.com, LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter. (PR)
