Bacolor student among TOSP regional finalists

A GRADUATE of the Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), Emmanuel G. Lozano, made it to the 2019 Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) finalists for Central Luzon (Region 3).

Lozano is among the 20 finalists among 41 nominees screened from various colleges and universities in Central Luzon. He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology.

TOSP is an awards program seeking young role models of the country who have personified academic excellence, exemplary leadership and deep sense of social responsibility, all anchored on good moral values.

Nominees are rated according to their academic performance, 40 percent; leadership, 30 percent; and social responsibility, 30 percent.

The DHVSU university paper reported that Lozano "finished his bachelor’s degree in the University with distinction. He was also bestowed the Leadership Award and Journalist of the Year Award for his exemplary service as president of the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council and as editor-in-chief of The Industrialist, respectively."

TOSP envisions youth participation in nation building by establishing role models who will galvanize young people into action and help bring about total human and economic development.

The 2019 screening committee scrutinized 41 entries from various colleges and universities in Central Luzon.

The province of Pampanga has the most number of nominees, with 21 entries, followed by Bulacan with 7, and Tarlac with 6. Bataan has submitted 3 entries, while 2 for Nueva Ecija. Provinces of Aurora and Zambales had 1 nominee each.

Finalists will be awarded during the TOSP Regional Week in Tarlac on July 18 to 22.
