A JOINT ocular inspection of all stores and warehouses is set to be conducted on Monday, June 17, in Zamboanga City.
Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) head, said the ocular inspection will be conducted jointly by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Office of the City Mayor through the Business Permits and Licensing Division, City Engineer’s Office, City Health Office, City Administrator’s Office and CDRRMO.
Apolinario said the purpose of the inspection is to conduct an inventory of stocks on all stores and warehouses and to come up with proactive measures to prevent a repetition of the fire incident in the city’s central business district.
A conflagration hit the Buner Appliance Center in Governor Lim Avenue on Wednesday, June 13, which took the firefighters to contained after almost four hours of firefighting operations.
The fire, aggravated by the presence of rubber, plastic products and other raw materials produced dense smoke impeding entry of firefighters into the establishment.
Apolinario, per directive of Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, presided a coordination meeting of the agencies concerned Friday morning to discuss updates concerning the Buner blaze. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
