ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar assured that land banking and housing projects for the urban poor sector will be a priority of her administration.
This, as Salazar said she is ready to take on her fresh mandate for a third term of another three years ahead.
Salazar said the city government will have a housing plan for Zamboanga City that will involve purchasing of lands on which to build low-cost houses for this city’s homeless.
“Land banking will address the problem of the urban poor because we have seen on the ground how united our urban poor is,” she said.
“They are communities that can make Zamboanga their home and for that they’ll become productive citizens and we want Zamboanga City to be a model for land banking,” she added.
Under the plan, the mayor said that qualified urban poor families will be given the opportunity to own a lot and a house of their own, subject to the usual terms and conditions of the government. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
