Suelto rules Open Masters Seniors

CEBUANO bowler Bel Suelto Jr. stamped his class in the Philippine International Bowling Open Tenpin Championships 2019 with a triumph in the Open Masters Seniors at the Coronado Lanes Starmall Edsa, Mandaluyong City on June 14, 2019.

Suelto of the Association of Cebu Bowlers Inc. knocked down a total of 2,456 pinfalls in the 12-game series to win the coveted masters title, edging Francis Manalaysa of PSB by 31 points.

Australia’s Harry Clinton placed third with 2,329, Ed Manapace of USCB took fourth place with 2,307 and Par Pineda bagged fifth place with a score of 2,307.

Suelto leaned on a strong finish, scoring 226, 203, 169 and 220 in the final four games to break away from the rest of the title contenders.

Suelto trailed to Manalaysa, 180-241, in the opening game but managed to steal the lead with scores of 226 and 208 in the next two games.

He scored 183, 223, 199, 234 and 185 in the next five games to stay within the leaders before breaking away in the ninth to 12th games.

Mon Camba of PSB scored 2,225 for sixth place, Bonnie Solis of Prima-Cuisiners had 2,281 for seventh place, Yaqoub Al Shatti of Kuwait finished with 2,279 for eighth place, Sammy Sy had 2,279 for ninth place and Greg Wilson landed at 10th place with 2,260. (RSC)
