2 Sudanese nabbed for illegal drugs

TWO Sudanese nationals and three other individuals were nabbed for illegal drugs and illegal firearms in a series of operations conducted by the police.

On June 8, two Sudanese and a Filipino were arrested after joint personnel of Police Station 8, BCPO, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR), and the National Bureau of Investigation Cordillera (NBI-CAR) confiscated 14 pieces of plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, and assorted drug paraphernalia at their boarding house in Upper San Vicente, Baguio City.

Those arrested were identified as Sami Saifeldin Osman, 26, Mohamad Ali, 27, both students, and Dan Hill Valentin Calibuso, 29, plumber and a resident of 49, Marcos Highway, Baguio City.

In another operation, Bryner Filog Tagtag, 32, resident of M. Roxas Street, Baguio City and from Bontoc, Mountain Province was arrested in the afternoon of June 11 along Philippine Postal Loop, Barangay Salud Mitra, Baguio City after selling a sachet of suspected shabu to an anti-narcotics operative.

Two sachets of suspected shabu, one transparent cellophane containing suspected marijuana leaves, assorted drug paraphernalia and a motorcycle with detached license plate, P500 buy-bust money and P7,500 boodle money were confiscated from the suspect during the joint operation by operatives of City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), Baguio City Police Station 7 and City Intelligence Unit (CIU).

Helen Rivera Binay-An, 54, farmer, was arrested in Pias, Camp 7, Baguio City on June 13 by personnel of BCPO Police Station 8, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 14 and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) after the issuance of a search warrant issued by Judge Mervin Jovito Samadan of RTC Branch 70, first Judicial Region Burgos, Pangasinan.

Authorities confiscated 44 assorted live ammunitions, two magazines for carbine and one holster for pistol during the operation.

All arrested suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units while appropriate charges were filed against the arrested persons.

Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson, Police Regional Office - Cordillera regional director, congratulated the operating units for the successful operation and enjoined other units to conduct more unrelenting anti-crime operations for the immediate arrest of criminals in the region.
