110 hired-on-the-spot during Independence Day job fair

A TOTAL of 110 applicants were hired on the spot during the Independence Day Job Fair held at Harbor Point, Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

They comprised 7.5 percent of the 1,460 total applicants who registered for the jobs fair anchored on the theme “Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit ng Mamamayan.”

Some 1,358 applicants were considered as near-hires for local employment and 98 for overseas.

“Near hires are those who were considered hired but needs to submit additional or lacking requirements or may need to attend further interviews or tests,” Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Regional Director Zenaida Angara Campita said.

Campita added that during the said jobs fair, about 3,000 local and overseas careers were up for grabs from 86 participating companies

“To all of you seeking for first time employment, please do not be picky or too selective in finding employment, today is the best opportunity for all of you now to land a job so as you will gain work experience,” Campita told applicants.

Partner agencies such as Social Security System, Philippine Statistics Authority, PhilHealth and Pag-ibig Fund were present in the venue to provide pre-employment services.

Representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Department of Trade and Industry provided allied services.
