THE Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo) has recovered a total of 150 guns during the election period from January 13 to June 12, 2019.
Based on Nocppo records, a total of 136 gun ban violators were apprehended and 136 cases were filed against the suspects in different courts.
Of the total guns recovered, nine were recovered at checkpoints, 97 during police patrol and response, 3 during Oplan Bakal/ Sita/ Galugad , 19 during the buy -bust operations and 22 during other police operations.
The Comelec and the police have been reminding the public of the gun ban during the election period.
Meanwhile, four persons were apprehended by the Himamaylan PNP in a buy- bust operation conducted on June 15 in Purok 4, Barangay IV, Himamaylan City.
The suspects were identified as Joennie Vazquez alias Jomjom, 38; Vincent Alcazar, 29; Mark Alipay, 22, and Charyl Chavez, 24, all residents of Himamaylan City.
A team under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Ervin Glen Provido, OIC City Director of Himamaylan PNP conducted the drug bust.
Vasquez, the subject, together with the three other suspects were sitting at the waiting shed beside the highway during the transaction with the police poseur buyer.
Recovered from Vasquez were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing of white crystalline substance of suspected shabu and one piece of P500 bill.
The team also conducted pat down search on the other persons at the scene who were seen by the operative actually transacting illegal drugs to the subject identified as Mark Aglipa and Chary Chavez.
The search was made in the presence of barangay officials and DOJ representative while the recovered items, including one tricycle EURO 150 colored black that was used by the other suspects in buying shabu from the subject, were turned over to the police for proper disposition.
The recovered eight heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu with estimated market value of P50,000 were immediately brought by the poseur buyer to the Crime Laboratory Office in Camp Gen. Martin Teofilo B Delgado, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City for laboratory examination.
