Tesda Davao backs EO 70

THE Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Davao regional office committed to support the Executive Order 70 or the "National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict” issued by President Rodrigo Duterte, which seeks to address insurgency problem.

In her message during the closing program of apprenticeship training of former rebels at the Grand Regal Hotel on Friday, Tesda 11 officer-in-charge chief Regional Operations Division Myrna Ong emphasized the role of Tesda in the whole-of-nation-approach strategy of the government to put an end to insurgency problem in the region.

“It is the priority program of our government, of our President no less than President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Tesda’s role is the provision of the skills training program to the communities through convergence effort,” Ong said.

She added that Tesda 11 Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili was in Manila to discuss programs on how to implement EO 70.

“EO 70 or which is otherwise known as the whole-of-nation approach which is a holistic program diin tagaan sa gobyerno og intervention ang mga communities labi na gayud katong mga communities nga dunay insurgency problem [The government will provide intervention to the communities especially those that have insurgency problem],” she added.

The graduation of the 31 trainees of HEO-Hydraulic Excavator and Dump Truck Operations shows that Tesda supports the government by aiding the skills training needs of the former rebels so they could find employment, thus will keep them away from returning back to the movement.

Under the 10th Infantry Division (ID), they noted that from January 1 to June 11, there have been a total of 154 New People’s Army (NPA) regulars, 81 Militia ng Bayan, 30 Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad and 143 Underground Mass Organization (Ugmo) members and 10 left-leaning organization members who surrendered to the government.
