Regionwide 3-on-3 tackled in summit

A REGIONWIDE 3-on-3 basketball tournament was conceptualized during Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Davao Region Officials Summit at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Saturday, June 15.

SBP regional commissioner lawyer Francis Calatrava, in an interview with SunStar Davao, said, each SBP chapter in Davao region will hold its own city or provincial elimination for boys ang girls under-18.

"Lahat ng champions bawat chapter will converge her in October for the regional finals then we will send the champions to the national finals," he said.

He added that some issues and concerns were raised by different SBP chapters in the region but they addressed it as they will campaign for a united SBP-Davao Region.

SBP regional director Glenn Escandor took time from his busy schedule and met the participants, thanking them for their hardwork and their presence. He also gamely posed for photo opportunities with them.

SBP-Davao Region operations head Ronel Leuterio, for his part, said, "This is a beginning for all of us. This will be our legacy project, helping a lot of kids who are aspiring na makarating sa PBA or makapag-aral man lang for their better future."

He also assured them that SBP 11 will also be there for them since their boss, pertaining to Escandor, is also passionate to help them.

Participants were from Panabo City, Davao City, Caraga, Santo Tomas, San Isidro, Mati City, Manay, Digos City, Tagum City, Malita, Pantukan and Agusan del Sur.
