WHEN I asked my husband what he wants for Father’s Day, he instantly replied, “a good haircut!”

I was surprised because he gets his hair cut twice a month but he would still want it as a pre-Father’s Day treat. Safe to say, my husband is simple and not materialistic — that’s how his parents raise him.

So I thought of bringing him to a barbershop that offers best service but with affordable rates.

In quest for the best barbershop with the qualifications he mentioned, we asked some tricycle drivers in Toril (because we just had our lunch in GMall Toril.) Majority of them referred us to DCGwapo Barbershop. It’s a small barbershop located near the Sto. Rosario Parish in Toril.

Upon entering, what caught my attention was that all chairs were occupied with customers. All barbers were busy — haircut, shave, massage, and the like. Other customers were waiting for their turn.

It has a huge TV (around 50 inches wide) hanging on the wall. It also has a centralized aircon and the room was freezing cold!

As I inspected the chairs, they were not new but I did not found any damage. My husband said the foam is soft.

The barber assigned to him, named Kuya Puloy, was fun to be with. He has been working with DCGwapo for eight years (since the barbershop opened.)

My husband had a clean cut with a straight shaved line on the side (kasi uso daw yun.) We paid P50 for the haircut and another P10 for the shave. He also got a head and shoulder massage for free.

All in all, I can say that his entire experience gave him time to be pampered. I realized, men do not necessarily need expensive things just to feel loved and special. They need services that would satisfy their mood and temporarily relieve them from stress. They deserve to be rewarded for being a responsible father and a loving husband.

Happy Father’s Day to all!
