THE incoming administration of governor-elect Gwen Garcia would have the final say on the Capitol’s plan to get insurance coverage for 27,300 barangay workers in Cebu Province.

Provincial General Services Office Chief Jone Siegfred Sepe said the Provincial Government wants to make sure it would be to Capitol’s advantage if it decides to avail itself of the insurance policy offered by Fortune Life Insurance Company Inc. (FLICI), which would cost Capitol P6.006 million a year for all 27,300 workers.

Another thing that needs to be considered, he said, is the new set of town and city officials who will assume their posts on June 30.

He said the new leaders might replace the barangay tanods, health workers and nutrition scholars.

Sepe said they would check if the list of volunteer community workers of the Provincial Health Office would not be affected by the project.

“We have to be very certain because we are in a transition phase,” he said. (FROM SCG OF SUPERBALITA CEBU / KAL)
