THE Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is eyeing to create more provincial business chapters amid diversified industries.
CCCI president Virgilio Espeleta said this is to build a healthy convergence among the businesses in the province.
“There is wealth found in Cebu’s key sectors,” said Espeleta. He mentioned that Cebu’s current business portfolio has grown bigger from information technology to business process management, tourism, manufacturing, exports, construction, real estate and property development, wholesale, retail and trade, transportation and logistics.
He also cited the creative and entertainment industry as another sector that shows signs of progress.
“Its growth trajectory has been double-digit in the past year,” he said.
Espeleta said target areas for CCCI provincial chapters are Oslob, Balamban, Bogo and Carcar. Eight more are being eyed by end of 2019.
The CCCI top official also stressed the need of businesses to innovate to improve the province’s competitiveness ranking amid technology disruptions.
Espeleta said there is much to be done especially in adding value to the economic value chain.
“We have to improve the ecosystem like our startups and angel investing, monetize inventions and innovations, agribusiness, tourism and creative industries,” he said.
Espeleta also bared the chamber’s plan of conducting a “Doing Business in Cebu” survey among more than 800 member companies.
“The output will be used also to narrow our focus on where we should work together and it is also an input for all government agencies as well as the newly elected local government unit leaders,” he said.
He said they will continue to work with the government especially in making Cebu a more business-friendly destination. (JOB)
