PROPERTY giant Megaworld Corp. is set to launch six more township projects in the country this year until 2020, which will bring the company's township portfolio to 30.
The country’s largest developer of integrated urban townships and lifestyle communities, in a statement, said these expansive new developments will cover around 2,000 hectares.
Most of these are from new land acquisitions carried by Megaworld Group's land banking efforts during the last five years, it added.
Five of these new expansive townships and lifestyle communities are in Luzon, while one is in Mindanao.
Kevin Tan, chief strategy officer of Megaworld, said that currently, they have more than 4,000 hectares of both developed and up for development land.
By next year, the company will increase its land ownership and landholding to more than 6,000 hectares as it continues to focus on the goal to expand to key growth areas in the provinces, Tan said.
“Also, to help boost tourism, provide jobs, and further spur economic opportunities outside of Metro Manila,” he added.
Megaworld already has 24 townships and lifestyle communities spread across the country.
Of which, nine are in Metro Manila including Eastwood City, McKinley Hill, Forbes Town, McKinley West, Uptown Bonifacio, Newport City, Alabang West, Westside City, and Arcovia City.
Other developments in Luzon are Capital Town Pampanga, Eastland Heights, Twin Lakes, Southwoods City, Suntrust Ecotown, Maple Grove, Hamptons Caliraya, and Highland City.
In the Visayas, these are Mactan Newtown, Iloilo Business Park, Boracay Newcoast, Sta. Barbara Heights, and The Upper East and Northill Gateway which are both in Negros Occidental.
Completing the list of Megaworld township and lifestyle community projects is the Davao Park District in Mindanao.
