Lacson to turnover board leadership to Ferrer on June 26

GOVERNOR-ELECT and outgoing Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is set to officially turnover the Provincial Board to Vice Governor-elect Jeffrey Ferrer on June 26.

Atty. Maki Angela Ascalon, secretary to the board, on Monday, June 17, said that there will still be sessions on June 19 and on June 26 the session will be light and the agenda will just be Reference of Business because there will be a turnover of the Provincial Board.

The assignment of committees will be known by July 2 the first inaugural session to be presided by Ferrer, she said.

"During the past administrations, the committee chairmanship is discussed among the board members but based on the Internal Rules there should be an election," Ascalon said.

She added that the rules are suspended during the inaugural session and authority is given the vice governor to assign committees to the board members.

Currently, there are 22 committees in the SP and we follow the rule that each board member will have two committees each, Ascalon said.

She also clarified that there are no written rules that mandate the senior board member to automatically get the Committee on Budget and Finance.

In the past nine years, it was chaired by Board Member Salvador Escalante and whoever replaces him "will have big shoes to fill", she pointed out.
