New PB members’ meeting cancelled

OUTGOING Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III will attend the inauguration of a rehabilitation facility in Pinamugajan town on Wednesday, June 19, 2019.

This event caused the postponement of the new Provincial Board (PB) members’ meeting, which was initially scheduled on Wednesday.

PB secretary Pulchra Marie Acevedo said in an interview Tuesday, June 18, that the meeting has been moved to Tuesday, June 25.

Globe Telecom will officially turn over the facility, “Project New Life,” to the Provincial Government with Davide representing the latter.

Acevedo said she has already informed the newly elected PB members on the matter.

Davide, the incoming vice governor and presiding officer of the PB, first called for a meeting last June 10. But only eight of the 17 PB members showed up for the meeting that would have tackled the possible changes to the legislative body’s house rules.

As this developed, Acevedo said reelected third district PB Member Victoria Corominas-Toribio submitted her suggestions for revisions on the house rules to the PB Monday, June 17.

Some of the changes that Toribio suggested include the redefining of the standing committees and the composition of committee memberships.

“During the last meeting, it was (PB Member) Toribio who was very positive,” Acevedo said.

Other legislators, she said, promised to cooperate and collaborate with their fellow PB members. (RTF)
