Oro’s Higala booters rule Naawan tourney

POWERHOUSE Higala Football Club (FC) kids of Cagayan de Oro City flexed their muscles to kick off the 2019-2020 football season with a bang, dominating the Naawan Football Invitational Tournament held last weekend at the Mindanao State University Naawan Campus in Naawan town, Misamis Oriental.

The Higala kids won three titles in the 7-Aside one-day tournament dominating the U19 Girls, U17 Boys, and U13 Boys divisions and placing second runner-up in the U11 Boys category.

The Lady booters of coach Paul Cabio defeated Iligan City Football Club 3-2 in the U19 Girls championship to win the title.

Led by probably the best young lady booter of Cagayan de Oro City, Ma. Chantal Paras Van Ommeren of St. Mary’s Academy, the Higala Ladies finished the elimination with two wins and a draw winning against Manticao FC, 1-0, and Celestial FC, 3-0.

FC 95 recorded a scoreless draw against the CdO kids.

Other players of coach Paul Cabio were Andrea Cabactulan, Gail Leanne Loking, Malaika Ingrid Chaves, Bianca Czarina Razon, Faye Margella Ramirez, Angel Kaye Buendia, Ma. Roella Causin, Renee Juliana Lazo, Madison Battung, and Liezel An Cotamco.

The Higala kids also won the U17 Boys division title beating Opol FC in the championship via shootout while the Higala U13 Boys team dominated their division by beating.

Members of the Higala FC U17 team under coach Jeremy Jablo were Eugene Anthony Arriola, Mike Chester Tidor, Kent Quieta, Ernesto Seriosa III, Patrick Cosadio, Nickvan Longganay, Leif Emmanuel Cabrera, Jharee Sabillo, Julius Galleon and Sean Amora (GK) while their Boys U13 team were Kinsey Drew Yañez, Anton Gamba, Jrand Hortilano, Zandrew Nobleza, Karstein Dane Yañez, Ralph Diongson (GK), Franklin Diongson, Jose Mari Magto, Harith Campong and Jhover Martel.

The tournament was a project of Naawan Mayor Dennis Roa.
