Torlao, Dela Cerna top Hamiguitan race

RONIE Torlao and Darmilyn Dela Cerna of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur annexed the 50K titles of the Mt. Hamiguitan Trail Race held over the weekend in San Isidro, Davao Oriental.

Torlao timed eight hours and 20 minutes to beat Rovel Mallari (8:20:01) and Rexel Aguirre (8:27:59) to annex the mens’ 50 crown.

In the distaff side, Dela Cerna (12:13:18) outclassed Karin Widmer (12:50:22) and Edmel Parcia (13:21:36).

Merjones Abugan of Panabo City and Ma. Monica Aaron pocketed the 25K titles.

Abugan clocked a total of two hours, 57 minutes and 47 seconds to rule the men’s event while Jesfer Angelo Mamon of Digos City and Mardione Albert Mozo of Davao City finished second and third, respectively.

Mamon timed 3:11:04 for the runner-up honors while Mozo registered 3:37:56.

Meanwhile, Aaron of Kapalong, Davao del Norte raced past rivals as she checked in at 5:08:31 to claim the women’s title.

Davao City’s Beberly Lim, for her part, was second with a time of 5:34:51 as Marjorie Maru of Davao City (5:36:27) came third.

Organizers said a total of 105 participants competed but only 93 finished. However, two did not finish while 11 did not start and 10 finished beyond cutoff. (MLSA)
