LTO allows license renewal on Saturdays

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 has announced that the renewal of driver’s licenses can be done on Saturdays.

Starting on June 22, 2019, the drivers may approach all the Driver’s License Renewal Offices (DLROs) located in malls nationwide, the LTO’s central office announced on its Facebook page.

LTO 7 Director Victor Caindec said a driver, whose license is about to expire in two months’ time, can also opt to renew his license at DLRO.

The LTO leadership wants to give ample time to drivers to renew their expired licenses and avoid penalties. The agency is also issuing student’s permits on Saturdays.

In Central Visayas, the DLROs are located in Island Central Mall in Lapu-Lapu City; SM Seaside City, SM City Cebu and Robinsons Fuente in Cebu City; Island City Mall and Alturaz in Tagbilaran City; and Robinsons Place in Dumaguete City.

Caindec said there are no transactions for driver’s license application on Saturdays.

The Department of Transportation, the mother agency of LTO, issued a Memorandum Circular No. 2019-2167, mandating the DLROs to open on Saturdays.

The office hours of a DLRO depend on the time the mall opens shop in the morning. Major malls in Cebu City often open at 10 a.m. DLRO closes at 5 p.m. (From PAC of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
