LGU warns vendors occupying streets

THE Mabalacat City government has warned ambulant vendors not to occupy sidewalks and passageways used by pedestrians.

A series of consultative meetings were conducted to orient the sidewalk vendors so as not to compromise the safety of the people.

The local police, in cooperation with the Public Market Vendors Association and the Market Administration Office, is continuously instructing vendors about the space intended for the pedestrians.

Section 16 of the Mabalacat Traffic Code states that no entity or person shall use any part of the sidewalk for personal or commercial purposes.

Aside from this, Section 50 of the city's market code also provides that no person shall sell any article in the passageways and aisles used by purchasers in the public market.

After the series of briefings, all violators will be apprehended by the local police. Their merchandise will also be confiscated by local authorities.
