THE City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) received one unit of Opacimeter equipment from the Environmental Management Bureau as it stepped up its anti-smoke belching drive.
Engineer Armen Cuenca said the Opacimeter is a highly dynamic partial-flow measuring instrument for continuous measurement of exhaust gas opacity.
He said Cagayan de Oro City has only one Opacimeter, which has been used in street operations.
Cuenca said the new unit will serve as a free testing machine, so vehicle owners can test and fix the exhaust gas on their own without facing penalties.
"Ang isa ka unit will be used to apprehend jeepneys while the other will be a free testing machine. Pwede ra diha nga walay dakop basta lang sila lang mag-test ug ma-repair dayon nila ilang sakyanan," he added.
The Clenro said it will also extend its street operations from only one day to a week to check all jeepneys that are cutting trips to evade anti-smoke belching team.
