NegOcc top cop orders probe into Talisay slay

NEGROS Occidental Police Provincial (Nocppo) director Police Colonel Romeo Baleros Thursday, June 20, ordered the Talisay City Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation in the killing of Ronald Nicavera in Talisay City.

Baleros said the Talisay City police should exert more efforts to identity and arrest the suspects.

“We should give justice to the family of the victim,” he said.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Pastor Antonio Celajes, investigator of Talisay City Police Station, said that around 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Nicavera, who was on board a motorcycle, was on his way home to Bangga Cubay, Hacienda Gloria, Barangay Concepcion, when two unidentified assailants, who were on board another motorcycle, blocked his way and fired at him several times.

Nicavera, a resident of Bago City, sustained multiple wounds and died on the spot.

In May, Nicavera’s brother was also killed in Bacolod City.

Celajes said they have yet to determine the motive in the killing of the victim.

He said before the incident, one of the suspects who served as a lookout, was seen in a store along Bangga Cubay, while the gunman, who was also the driver of the motorcycle, was wearing a mask.

“It was a well-planned to kill the victim in the area,” he added.

Celajes said they are gathering all the evidences as well as the witnesses to determine the identity of the suspects.
