WHILE the office is currently being improved, we do not have a suitable place to have a meeting to discuss important matters here. At present, we would find ourselves in coffee shops or restaurants near our office along Jacinto St.

Recently, we had a meeting at the Molave Family Diner, which is near the Ateneo de Davao University along Jacinto St.

I have been here a couple of times already for a meal or two. By the looks of the place, it has seen better days. However, it is nice to note that in my recent visit, they have made small improvements to make the restaurant look more updated.

We booked their function room for P4,500 for three hours and is consumable, which means we can order food that is equivalent to the cost of the room.

For our lunch here we ordered their Hardwood Meals, which is a meal set good for six persons. There are two kinds of Hardwood Meals -- Malabulak (P977) and Narra (P1087). Both meal sets include one whole Molave Greaseless Chicken, Kangkong and Cream Dumpling, plain rice platter, and a pitcher of ice tea. What sets them apart is Malabulak also has a Pork Lumpia Platter and a Single Pancit Canton while Narra has Mikee’s Sizzling Boneless Bangus and Mikee’s Pork Sisig.

Molave’s Greaseless Chicken was definitely a hit. They have one of my favorite greaseless chicken here in Davao City. I love that everytime I make a visit here, their greaseless chicken is consistently good. However, I wish the gravy that came with it had more pepper.

Another of my favorite from our lunch here was the Kangkong and Cream Dumpling. At first glance, it did not look that good. But when I had a bite of it, I was surprised at how good it was. The filling was creamy and quite flavorful.

I also enjoyed Mikee’s Sizzling Boneless Bangus. I find it to be really tasty. I really loved the sauce, which was both sweet and savory.

I have to also make special mention of Molave Family Diner’s atchara (pickled papaya bell pepper, and carrots), which many of my colleagues really enjoyed.

We ended a meal with an order of Sans Rival and Brownie a la Mode. Both were really sweet. But I did enjoy the Brownie a la Mode. I like the contrast of the heat from the brownie and the cold from the ice cream.

At P4,500 for three hours, having a meeting at the Molave Family Diner is quite a good deal. The restaurant is located along Jacinto St., near Ateneo de Davao University.
