“COMEDY seems to be the genre that Filipinos love most,” said Hungarian Ambassador to the Philippines Jozsef Bencze when asked which among the Hungarian films screened in the past was well liked by the Filipinos.
Davao will have the pleasure of viewing the different film genres of Hungary at SM Lanang Premier. Every month from June until November, one title will be screened, which will include “Brazilok” (humor and drama); “Genezis” (drama); “Moszkva tér” (perios movie); and “Tales from the Lakeside” (animation). The movies are subtitled in English and will be free of charge.
Opening the film festival at SM Lanang Premier cinema is the film “Kincsem-Bet on Revenge.” It’s a 19th century historical drama film based on the exploits of Kincsem, a world-famous racing horse of unparalleled speed. It’s a tale of love, revenge and sportsmanship.
Special guests on the opening night were members of Davao’s consular corps and film enthusiasts.
This is the third year of the Hungarian Film Festival (HUFF) in the Philippines and the Embassy of Hungary is extending its reach to Davao and Cebu. Their aim is to present the essence of Hungarian cinema to more Filipinos. Thanks to the Hungarian Embassy, the Film Development Council of the Philippines and SM Lanang Premier, the festival has reached the Mindanao audience.
