Mandaue City Council named finalist in DILG's Legislative award search

THE Mandaue City Council was chosen as one of the 12 finalists in the Local Legislative Award of Excellence for Highly Urbanized Cities search.

Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, the presiding officer, accepted the recognition on behalf of the City Council on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, during the End Term National Assembly of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) held in a hotel in Cebu City.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and PCL gave the award of legislative excellence to the Quezon City Council, which is presided by Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Fortuna said he is grateful that the Mandaue City Council was selected as finalist in the national-level search.

The council was declared as winner in the Central Visayas-level search in December 2018.

“I am proud that we have made it to the finals,” he told Superbalita Cebu.

The criteria in the legislative award search include the responsiveness of the legislative agenda, effectiveness and efficiency of the council, availability of public documents and citations.

The DILG’s local legislative award is given every three years.

“The award is jointly organized by the DILG and the Philippine Councilors League in order to recognize exemplary performance of the council’s legislating measures that help build the foundation of meaningful local administration and development,” Fortuna said. (FROM FMD OF SUPERBALITA CEBU / KAL)
