CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has warned the public to be vigilant against online banking and mobile text scams.

BSP San Fernando Branch bank officer Ma. Lourdes Laconsay urged the people to be cautious when conducting online bank transactions by ensuring that engagements are made on legitimate official websites only.

“We want to remind everyone to make sure you are engaging online bank transactions with the legit website because we have received reports of this scam wherein the savings in their account are being stolen,” Laconsay stressed.

She also advised the public not to entertain mobile text messages stating that they have won in purported raffle draw to be able to phish and extort money.

Laconsay said that some of these illicit activities are using the name of BSP in order to easily fool the public.

“If you did not join any contest or raffle, don’t expect that you’ll win a certain amount of money,” she added.

Laconsay said BSP is continuously educating the public on financial literacy through seminars and other information dissemination programs.
