4 arrested in Cordillera

FOUR individuals were arrested by personnel of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera for violation of numerous offences over the week.

Dexter Emong Esteban, 33, a resident of Barangay Upper Atok Trail, Baguio City, was apprehended in the afternoon of June 18, while Jalmar Dumalleg Baguingan, 32, a resident of Sitio Baccong, Pangol, Tanudan, Kalinga, was also caught the following day.

Both were arrested for allegedly collecting bet money for "jueteng," an illegal numbers game.

Confiscated from Esteban were P375 cash and assorted gambling paraphernalia.

Police also confiscated from Baguingan P1,575 and assorted gambling paraphernalia.

In a separate operation, police arrested a farmer identified as Merick Jayson Galano, 31, a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Gaddanan, San Mateo, Isabela.

Galano was nabbed on June 17 in Sitio Talaca, Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga during a checkpoint for violating the firearms law of the Philippines.

Confiscated from him were a caliber .45 pistol and one magazine containing seven ammunition.

In a drug bust, Cliford Ludaes Willie, alias Bugoy, 39, a resident of Wangal Housing, La Trinidad, Benguet, was arrested at Trading Post, Pico, La Trinidad town on June 14. He sold illegal drugs to one of the policemen who posed as a buyer.

Confiscated from him were one sachet of substance believed to be shabu, P1,000 and a cellular phone.

The PRO-Cordillera assured a continuous anti-criminality campaign and other standard safety operations in the region. It appealed to the public to provide relevant and timely information about suspicious persons and activities for the immediate arrest of suspects and the prevention of crimes in the region.
