P877K ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED P877,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in separate drug bust operations of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in Bacolod City.

The operations also led to the arrest of seven drug personalities identified as Ramel Mati-ong, 35, Medjor Dairo, 32, Robert Lose Banez, 25, all residents of Talisay City; Fernando Santillana, 47, of Sharina Heights, Barangay Taculing; Chevy Leche, 29, of Barangay Handumanan; Jesus Noel Regalado, 50, and Rodolfo Gavieta Jr., 39, of Rosario Street, all in Bacolod City.

At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, Mati-ong, Dairo, and Banez were arrested by operatives of Police Station 3 led by Police Major Ruel Culanag for selling shabu to a police undercover at San Mateo, Barangay Banago.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession 11 sachets of shabu weighing 40 grams with estimated market value of P500,000 and the P500 marked money.

Santillana was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 8 at Arnaldo Street, Purok Kahirup, Barangay Singcang-Airport at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Police recovered from Santillana’s possession three sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P90,000 and the P500 marked money.

At about 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, Leche was arrested by operatives of Police Station 10 at Phase 5, Barangay Handumanan.

Police recovered from Leche’s possession four 4 sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P12,000, and P100 marked money.

The BCPO-City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) also arrested Regalado and Gavieta Jr. at Barangay 33 at about 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession 10 sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P275,000, and the P500 marked money.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of Police Stations 3, 6, 8 and 10 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
