A FORMER police officer in Catbalogan City, Samar was shot dead by motorcycle riding assailants minutes after he sent his wife to her workplace on Monday, June 24.
Authorities identified the victim as Police Officer 3 Roy Pagunsan. He was killed around 7:10 a.m. in Purok-3, Barangay Mercedes, Catbalogan City by men wearing bonnet masks.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya, spokesperson of Philippine National Police (PNP) Eastern Visayas Regional Office, said Pagunsan was dismissed from police service in August 2016 for grave misconduct.
“He appealed against his case in 2016 but was denied,” Rentuaya said.
