CEBU (Updated) -- A cargo vessel capsized off San Fernando, Cebu Tuesday afternoon, June 25, 2019.

The cargo vessel, M/V Eva Mary Grace, was carrying at least 12 crew members when it sank off the SEDC Port in Barangay South Poblacion, San Fernando around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, said the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Central Visayas.

The PCG said the crew members were loading cement bags into the ship when a swell hit the vessel, causing it to list and then capsize.

One of the crew members, identified as Manuel Incarnacion, a crane operator, was injured as he was left inside the vessel when it sank.

Incarnacion was later rescued and rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The 11 other crew members are safe, said the PCG.

The PCG-Central Visayas had sent its Quick Response Team to the area.

The Quick Response team is composed of Coast Guard Special Operations Unit, medical team and marine environmental Protection unit. (Reports from Herty Lopez, AYB and EOB/LMY)
