Resident foils burglary in Benguet

A FARMER was caught red handed after an attentive resident thwarted a possible burglary in Barangay Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet on June 23.

The police identified the suspect as Filber Faustino Mendoza, a.k.a. Rex Faustino Dumaliw, 22, farmer, and a resident of Buguias, Benguet.

Complainant identified as “Julie Ann”, 29 years old, self-employed and a resident of Betag revealed she was awakened by the banging sound coming from the second floor of their three-story building which contained a flat screen TV, videoke, refrigerator, liquors and cash amounting to nearly P300,000.

The complainant then viewed the closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitor installed at the said floor to which she saw a male person wearing a blue jacket, white bull cap and a black face mask forcibly opening the roll up door.

Julie Ann then called a friend to report the incident to the police.

Personnel of La Trinidad police immediately responded and arrested the suspect who was trying to escape using a motorcycle.
