Negros Occidental Provincial Board turnover set today

A TURNOVER ceremony of the Provincial Board of Negros Occidental will be held during its regular session Wednesday, June 26.

Outgoing Vice Governor and governor-elect Eugenio Jose Lacson Tuesday said he will turn over the legislative body of the provincial government to vice governor-elect Jeffrey Ferrer.

“There will be no agenda but there will be short speeches during the session,” Lacson said.

Asked if chairmanships of the committees and the senior board members will be known during the event, he said Ferrer has met with incoming members of the SP to discuss the matter.

It will be finalized by the inaugural session on July 3, Lacson said.

As to the post for senior board members, Lacson said the determination of who shall be the senior board member is “total number of votes garnered over the total number of votes registered.”

Lacson also said he will make an official announcement today at his office.

Lawyer Maki-Angel Ascalon, provincial board secretary, said that he was instructed by Lacson to ask the Commission on Elections for a ranking of the board members.

The problem is what formula to use.

Official results of the May 13 elections showed Ko garnering the most number of votes with 130,417 closely followed by Board Member Romel Debulgado (1st district) with 105,965 votes.(TDE)
