“NAGKA-CAMERA lang, blogger na,” this is the common assumption to aspiring bloggers.
Did we ever think that owning a camera is enough to be tagged as a blogger/vlogger?
I started being active in uploading vlogs in YouTube and sharing my motherhood journey in my Facebook page (Kangaroo’s Pouch by Ara Casas-Tumuran) few months after I resigned from being a broadcast journalist.
I thought it would be “easy” because that’s how I see other bloggers work.
But, NO. You have to deal with a lot of things — sensible content, organic viewers/followers, and fast return of investment for your client/partner brand, if there is any.
It’s not about fame. It’s about your passion and dedication to help and influence your audience.
I met a group of moms who do the same passion and branding— we call ourselves Davao Mommy Bloggers. I appreciate how the prominent ones like Sunshine and Kat teach us how to manage our social media accounts. Andrea and Tricia have also taught us how to deal with people, while Ysai’s and Jane’s dedication has inspired us.
If you are also aspiring to become a blogger, here are a few tips from them.

When I was 13, the YouTubers I watched became my “ates” and I wanna be that safe space where my audience find light, love, laughter, and learning.

Mary Jane Dionela-Quintana
I am a mompreneur to a seven-year-old homeschooler. Aside from my son, I wanted to share my thoughts with the hope to inspire mommies that there is so much more than being a mother. And the most important person whoever walked on earth is “YOU”.

Mommy Babe
Blogging in this generation means a lot. Sharing the stories and photos invite others to experience what you experienced. My inspiration is the thought that someday my grandchildren will read my narratives and share it to people they’ll meet.

Starting is the hardest part. What you need to do is to plan and take the first step. Listen to your heart and find the audience and topic where you want to contribute and share to. Have fun and just enjoy the process.

Everybody’s Sunshine
If you want to start blogging, first you have to know why, what is your purpose, what are your goals, what you want to talk about, and who you want to talk to. When you have your answers to all of that, do not be afraid to take the step.

Taylor Family Vlogs
I’m not a long-term blogger just yet but one thing I always keep in mind is that my blog is more than just a diary, it can be an avenue of comfort for troubled moms, an information guide for someone looking, and it is where I can preserve memories. That’s why I try my best and provide substantial blogs for my readers. The best tip I can give is always go beyond your limits.
