Cops release trike driver in hit and run

THE tricycle driver who was involved in a road accident on Araneta Street, Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City voluntarily surrendered to Police Station 9 and was released after his reglementary period lapsed Tuesday afternoon, June 25.

Police Captain Jun Ray Batadlan, chief of Police Station 9, said Wednesday, June 26, that Raffymin Nobleza, 24, of Purok Nami-Nami, Barangay Sum-ag, voluntarily surrendered around 4 p.m.

He said Nobleza surrendered because he was bothered by his conscience.

Nobleza was one of the drivers who hit Eduardo Enriquez, 62, of Purok Magayon, Barangay Sum-ag, on Araneta Street on Sunday, June 23.

The Ceres Bus driver who was involved in the accident also voluntarily surrendered after the accident, while the driver of the motorcycle is still at-large.

On Sunday evening, June 23, Enriquez was crossing on Araneta Street when he was hit by a motorcycle. The victim fell on the ground and he was hit again by a Ceres Bus driven by Regie Lejarso, 38, of Binalbagan, then, a tricycle driven by Nobleza.

Batadlan said there were already a settlement between the bus and tricycle drivers and the victim's family.

He said the family of the victim already executed an affidavit of non-interest to file the case against the two drivers.

Batadlan added he is hopeful that the driver of the motorcycle will also surrender and help the family of the victim.
