Mayor seeks authority to sign sanitary landfill contract

MAYOR Evelio Leonardia has sought authority from City Council to sign a contract between the City Government and A.L. Salazar Constructions Inc., and its corresponding ratification for the design and construction of the sanitary landfill in the city.

The landfill project is P32,892,636.99, which is in compliance with Republic Act 9003 or the Solid Waste Management Law.

The granting of authority by the City Council to Leonardia is in compliance to paragraph (b), Section 52 of the Local Government Code.

Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said the contract needs the authority of the City Council for the mayor to sign with the construction agency.

He said all construction requirements for the building of the sanitary landfill in the city had been complied with by the agency.

The mayor’s signing of the contract will have the project implemented in full blast and that the agency is given 10 days mobilization period after receiving the notice to proceed the construction, said Sayson.

The project is to be accomplished in 180 days, inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays in accordance with the time schedule, guarantees and warrants, said Sayson.

Sayson said that within this year, the city could already have a functional and operational sanitary landfill. (MAP)
