Familiaran to hold caucus for committee chairmanships

BACOLOD City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran will hold a meeting with members of Grupo Progreso on June 30 to discuss the chairmanships in the City Council.

Familiaran said Wednesday, June 26, they will hold their caucus with the newly elected councilors of Grupo Progreso with its other members.

He said the City Council has a total of 31 committees and under the rules, each councilor can hold a maximum of two chairmanships.

Newly elected councilors of Grupo Progreso were incumbent Councilors Cindy Rojas, Renecito Novero, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola, Elmer Sy, Ana Marie Palermo, Simplicia Distrito, Carlos Jose Lopez, Al Victor Espino, Archie

Baribar, and Israel Salanga.

Other members of Grupo Progreso are Councilors Lady Gles Pallen, Liga ng nga Barangay president, and Ayesha Villaflor, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president.

Outgoing Grupo Progreso councilor are Councilors Caesar Distrito and Em Ang.

Familiaran said each councilor will be given a chance to select their committees.

“Let’s just wait how they will get their chairmanships, I do not know if they will base it by ranks or seniority,” he said.

He added that some of the councilors also have their own preferences to chair a committee, but it is not yet final.
