Batch 2011 stays on the hunt

BATCH 2011 was on the brink of elimination in Division 2 of the Don Bosco Cup 2019 but all that changed over the weekend after Christian Rey Belloc powered Batch 2011 to back-to-back wins at the Don Bosco Technological College (DBTC) Arena to clinch the fifth seed.

Batch 2011 beat Batch 2014, 68-58, on Saturday, June 22 with Belloc getting 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. A day later, Batch 2011 walked away with a 54-50 win over Batch 2006.

Belloc had 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals.

The two wins had Batch 2011 moving up from eighth to fifth place. Batch 2015 solidified its grip of the No. 1 spot in Division 2 with a 70-69 nail-biting win over Batch 2007.

Jules Asignar had a huge game for Batch 2015 with 27 markers, four rebounds and three steals.

Batch 2014 defeated Batch 2004-2005, 72-61, despite being eliminated from the tournament.

Dwight Earl Basanung scored 15 points and had nine rebounds.

Despite the loss, Batch 2004-2005 still finished second and earned an outright spot to the semifinals along with Batch 2015.

Meanwhile, Batch ‘98 grabbed the top spot of Division 1 with a 73-65 victory over InGorious Batches.

Ron Mabanto had 26 markers, four boards and two steals for Batch ‘98. Batch ‘98 and Batch ‘97 are the top two squads in Division 1 and are moving on to the semifinals.

Former PBA star Dondon Hontiveros led Batch ‘94 to a 67-48 win over Batch ‘96.

Hontiveros logged a double-double with 30 points and 18 boards. He also had a steal and two blocks.

Batch ‘96 bounced back on Sunday with an 85-53 crushing of Batch ‘95.

Steve Nacua had 24 markers, 10 assists and three steals for Batch ‘96. (EKA)
