I HAVE been visiting some new(ish) coffee shops around downtown lately to see what they have to offer. I think these coffee shops are a nice addition to the growing coffee scene in Davao City. So far, my initial visits at these coffee shops have been pretty good despite some hiccups.

I will be writing a full review on these coffee shops soon after making a few more visits. However, I would like to share my initial impressions on them.

Fourth Street Café

Location: Corner Juan Luna Street

The coffee shop moved to a much bigger space this year from its original location along Guerrero street. What I love about the coffee shop is how spacious it looks with its high ceiling and floor to ceiling windows.

I also enjoyed the food and beverage here. From my recent visits here, I love their Hungarian Penne and Pan-seared Chicken Breast. I find the two to be really delicious. I just love how savory these dishes were. I also regularly order a cup of pour over coffee here. Talk with their baristas so they can help you choose what coffee beans to use for your pour over.

Kopi 82

Location: Along Jose P. Laurel, near Wheels N’ More

This is one of the newest coffee shops in Davao City. I think this is one of the most well designed coffee shops in the city. My first impression was it is really nice looking with its colorful murals inside and outside. I also love the ambiance of the place.

For my first visit here I ordered their Meat Ball Marinara and an Iced Americano. The pasta was quite good though I find the meatball to be a bit dry. While I was satisfied with my Americano, I did find it to be a bit bitter though. However, I will be schedule more visits here to try their other dishes.

Sucree

Location: The Metropolis Suites Davao, Cabaguio Avenue

I remember Sucree being an online business selling pastries. If my memory is correct, I think they were also participating in some previous food fairs. I was surprised to know they are now a coffee shop after someone emailed me about them.

I find the coffee shop to be comfortable for groups though the set-up of the place can be a bit crowded to the eyes. For my recent visits here, the two products that really stood for me is their Filipino Bibimbop and the Hokkaido Double Fromage Cheesecake. I really loved the cheesecake. It was cheesy, light, and not very sweet. While, I enjoyed some of the food I had, the service was quite slow. Food was served after around 30 minutes. I guess they can improve on that aspect.
