IF YOU plan to dine and you happen to be in Bonifacio Street or Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City, this food stall will surely satisfy your gastronomic needs without breaking your budget – FoodBowls.

Rice topped with delightful viand prepared in a bowl – this seems to be a trend these days especially to those who are always on the go and on a tight budget.

With prices that range from P55 to P65, one can enjoy their Asian Cuisine-inspired menu – from Korean Chicken Pops, Japanese Teriyaki, Thai Bangus Sisig, Pinoy Cheesy Humba, and Indonesian Pastil among others. FoodBowls also offers healthy options like Salted Egg Salad, Fresh Eden Salad, and Fresh Fruit Shakes.

I tried their Korean Chicken Pops as one of the owners, Moi Dionaldo, strongly suggested it. He said it is their best-selling dish. I also had one serving of Salted Egg Salad.

I find it interesting that you actually have the choice as to how spicy your Korean Chicken Pops will be. It has level 1, 2, 3, 6, and 10. I chose level 3. I found it to be a good choice for someone who likes hot and spicy.

“For FoodBowls, our target market are the students, our plan really is to penetrate every schools in the city. We are on the second year of our operations and I can say we are growing,” Dionaldo said.

At present, the food business has two branches located at Katipunan Diner, 142-D Guino-o Building, Bonifacio Street and Sta. Ana Avenue (at the back of Holy Cross of Davao College or commonly called Buyayang).

Dionaldo shared that they are planning to add more in their menu - Vietnamese Buffalo Wings and Tuna Shanghai.

“I am very excited because we are about to realize our vision, the greater goal is to have an Asian Fusion Restaurant,” he said.

The owner said that though they are doing well as a business, their team is not slowing down as they believe that the only way to remain relevant in the food industry is to innovate.

“We want this to grow further. We thought that if we are doing well now, we should strive to do better to serve best our growing customers,” he said.

FoodBowls is presently looking for other viable spots for additional branches. Indeed, exciting things await FoodBowls this year and the years to come.
