Woman wounded in Talisay shooting

AN 18-year old woman was wounded in a shooting incident at around 8:30 p.m. on June 26, 2019 in Sitio Pantayanan, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified as Emmalyn dela Cruz, single, while the suspect was identified as Rogelio Trecho, 53. Both are residents of the same barangay.

Trecho was arrested during a hot pursuit operation conducted by the police. He was placed under the custodial facility of Talisay City police.

Based on the report of the Talisay police, the victim was home with her family when the suspect came looking for her father Allan dela Cruz.

The suspect allegedly opened fire as the older Dela Cruz peeped from the kitchen.

The father was not hit, but Emmalyn sustained a bullet wound on her back. The father then took his caliber .45 pistol and returned fire, prompting the suspect to flee on foot.

Emmalyn was brought to Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City for treatment.

Talisay City police led by Police Major Jigger Gemino, Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) members led by Rolly Ordaniel, and members of Provincial Special Operation Group responded to the incident.

Recovered from the crime scene were one caliber .45 pistol Armscor brand, one magazine of 45 pistol and one cartridge of caliber .45. (Teresa D. Ellera)
