Ayala Foundation to turn over building materials for quake victims

THE Ayala Foundation, Inc. will formally turnover their donation of construction materials, intended to rebuild homes and properties damaged by the recent earthquake, to the Provincial Government of Pampanga Saturday, June 29.

The official turnover will be led by House Speaker and Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, governor-elect Dennis Pineda, vice governor-elect Lilia Pineda, and Ayala Foundation officers.

After the ceremonies, there will be an outreach program in Barangay Camias, Porac town.

Ayala Foundation Inc. president Ruel Maranan told SunStar Pampanga that the move is part of the commitment of the foundation to help out in the rebuilding efforts in Aeta communities which were affected by the recent earthquake.

He added that the support aims to give beneficiaries a chance to reboot their lives through their new homes.

Maranan said that right after the earthquake, Ayala Group of Companies chairperson Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and the rest of the members, through the Ayala Foundation, decided to extend assistance to the province - from rescue, relief, and a portion of the rehabilitation.

Initially, they are targeting 1,000 households to assist. They are coordinating with the national and local government and its officials on how they can leverage and maximize assisting the most affected families.

Aeta communities in Barangay Nabuklod in Floridablanca town and Villa Maria and Camias in Porac town were devastated by the 6.2 magnitude quake that struck the province early this year.

The earthquake also claimed the lives of three Aetas who were buried under the rubble of their collapsed homes.
