Metro Retail bags ‘Regional Retailer of the Year’ award

METRO Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) was hailed as the Regional Retailer of the Year at the recently concluded 21st Outstanding Filipino Retailers (OFR) Awards 2019.

Presented by the Philippine Retailers Association and the Department of Trade and Industry, the OFR Awards celebrate Filipino retailers who are outstanding in terms of growth, creativity, and best business practices.

Winning the Regional Retailer of the Year award underscores MRSGI’s Cebuano heritage and efforts in maintaining a strong presence in the Visayas alongside its continued expansion in Metro Manila and Luzon.

Its success story has inspired many, having started as a humble, family-run department store and supermarket in Cebu and growing into a multi-format retailer and publicly listed company, trusted and patronized by Filipino consumers for 36 years.

“Being a homegrown Cebuano retailer, we are delighted to be of service to the people in the Visayas region. It is truly a key area of growth and expansion. With this win, we are all the more motivated to continue our efforts in providing an excellent shopping experience not just in Visayas but for all our customers through all our stores across the country. We thank everyone for their continued support and patronage,” said Manuel Alberto, MRSGI president and chief operating officer.

MRSGI currently has a total of 54 stores composed of 28 supermarkets, 13 department stores and 13 hypermarkets, across Visayas, Metro Manila and Luzon. It has thrived in the highly competitive retail landscape by committing to operational excellence, customer service and delivery of a wide array of quality merchandise at affordable prices. (PR)
