Villanueva: Inspiring Cordillerans

AMONG Cordillerans who inspire and whom we should emulate are community-oriented individuals such as Rotarians, policemen, teachers and also the young ones.

The Club Awards were Rotary International Platinum Presidential Citation (the highest citation given by Rotary International); Most Outstanding Club (awarded only to the top 10 clubs from a total of 92 clubs); Basic Education and Literacy Area of Focus Award; Top Club in Public Relations; and District Events Host (for DISTAS 2018), District Sports Award (1st Leg Golf Tournament) and Loyalty Recognition (from the Phil. Rotary Magazine). The Individual awards were: Rolando Villanueva District Trainer, District Trainer Appreciation, and District Training Team; Jal Martires Asst. Gov. (Cluster 1C) and District Training Team; Tolitz Villanueva and Rommel Alcid as Outstanding Rotarians; and Anton Baltazar as Outstanding President, Leadership Award and District Training Team.

The RCBSC (D3790, Philippines) visits the RC of Gangneung Yulgok (D3730, Korea), a sister club, on June 13 to 15 in celebration of their 29th inauguration. The two clubs signed a five-year sisterhood agreement last March 8 to strengthen ties through projects and community service.

A “Balik Eskwela Outreach Program” was held last June 22 at the PFVR Gymnasium, supported by the PNP PRO-COR director, Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim Dickson. The beneficiaries were students from the Kiweng Elementary School of Ambuklao Bokod, Benguet.

“JFK”, another milestone for the Just for Kids Tutorial Center since 1999, celebrating two decades of service to students from the different schools here in Baguio! Helping kids cope up with the ever-changing demand of their academic journey in life. JFK’s time tested traditional teaching techniques with the continuous improvement of programs and tutorial approach and strategies certainly strengthen academic, social and psychological needs of ever-growing children.

The youth take center stage at the Alpha Ultima Models and Fashion Launching last June 1 at the Gesdan Centrum and was participated in by other modeling groups.

It was indeed an inspiring year RY 2018-2019! Kudos to the members of the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital (RCBSC) headed by Charter Pres. Gil Bautista, Pres. Anton Baltazar, IP Cecilio Cid and PN Tolitz Villanueva! At the Year-End Review held last June 22 at Dagupan City, the RCBSC received exemplary and multiple awards from Rotary International District 3790.
