Bautista: Bautista to bank to Boy Scout to Brigada to band to boxing to Boy Scout to basketball and back to Baguio…

A BAUTISTA board meeting just transpired, as usual it is always difficult dealing with family issues, but also knowing that after everything will be OK, it is always the case. Another meeting is to be had in Diamond Bank before heading down to Manila, I am president to both. During my meetings I received a couple of missed calls, calls from a couple of friends, former vice president Jojo Binay and former governor and Secretary Obet Pagdanganan. My excuse, I was in meetings then driving.

The Manila meeting that I have will be the elections for president of the Boy Scouts. Obviously, each Juan trying to campaign to me to vote for them. I take each call from them for respect. Both make their point, I get it.

I am asked to sit beside the former VP, we exchange pleasantries, I apologetic for not answering previously. Like in any election, this is the same, heated and full of discussions. A word from each candidate, their version of a vision and I make my decision.

I escape from it all after the elections before heading to Camp Crame for a Brigada Eskwela painting together with my Mistahs from Class 88 of PMA. Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation where I’m president continues to help and assist the soldiers and the police in various forms. This is the 2nd time we will assist in the elementary school inside the camp.

While all this ongoing, I am just thinking of my son who will be part of two performing groups, bands Dayaw and his own The Flu. Both in different parts of the Metro but both for the same Fete De La Musique 2019. For both they will be opening acts and closing. I can only make the start for both before heading back to Baguio for a couple of meetings on a Sunday.

It is the mid-year planning for boxing, I am VP, the national team I host here in Teachers Camp. Olympians and champions are what we have here. It must be the altitude and climate. All of those in the Philippine Team are scholars of UB. I will excuse myself early because I am tired and I will have to go to Santiago City the next morning.

It is a long and winding drive down Aritao. A trip that will take almost 400 kilometers. As usual I will drive for this. I always do. We casually make it and just in time for some welcome reception. A few drinks to relax then a massage. Unfortunately with all the adrenaline pumping, I cannot sleep at all. Movies till the next day it was for me until breakfast was called.

I head the Boy Scouts from Cordillera Region and also Region ll. I have the largest scope in area up to Batanes. I also travel to all this places for scouting. After my meeting I am invited by the former Governor of Nueva Vizcaya for drinks and snacks in her hometown a halfway before hitting the mountains once more. All in 24 hours.

I will be back in Baguio for the night just to change clothes and get new ones for a Basketball Summit. Other than boxing I’m also the Regional Director for the Cordillera and a Board of Trustee of Samahang Baskebol ng Pilipinas. The next days will just be for basketball.

I am booked in Holiday Inn, the lady just a asks, what’s in it for me, I say well I’m just a small guy in all of this and it is just my love for all of this that keeps me going.

All in a week. I omitted the days except for Sunday just to mention that it is still a working day for me. In between I did not mention a meeting for a Heart Diagnostic Center which I operate and Jaycees because I can’t find a “B” word for them. In fact I’m going back to Baguio today just to catch a speaking engagement tonight. My speech for next week’s story if ever.
