Go vows to continue helping fire victims

EVEN if he will now start his job as a senator, the former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go assured that he will continue helping people affected by fire incidents.

Last Friday, June 28, 2019, Go visited the affected families of the fire that hit Barangay Tipolo in Mandaue City who are temporarily staying at the Cebu International Convention Center.

The incoming senator gave the affected families financial assistance worth P2,000 each, together with food and grocery packs.

During his visit, Go spoke with the victims who are pregnant, encouraging them to get him as godfather of their children. He also gave them gifts.

Go, in coordination with some government agencies, assured the victims he would help them go back to their respective homes.

Among the agencies that pledged to help the victims are the National Housing Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Go also ate with more than 25 tricycle drivers in a boodle fight.

Based on the data of the DSWD 7, the number of families affected by the fire has reached 1,429, or not less than 4,500 individuals.

Among the affected areas are Sitio Basubas, Maharlika and Espina.

There are also fire victims who are temporarily staying in the Tipolo Elementary School aside from the CICC.

The estimated damage of the fire reached P1.3 million. (from HBL of SuperBalita Cebu/JJL)
