Police pursuing ‘investment’ firm founders after raid

POLICE are on the lookout for the manager of a trading firm suspected of being engaged in an investment scam in Agusan del Norte.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Rafols II, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) in Caraga, said they believe that Dimber Celiz, manager of the Forex or FRX Rice Trading investment, has fled to Cagayan de Oro City.

The company’s founder, Bernard Dela Cruz, was arrested after figuring in an accident Wednesday, June 26.

Police believe that Celiz still has money amounting to millions of pesos in her possession. The money is believed to be part of the proceeds from their investment scheme.

"They were really going to escape mainly because they have failed to return the money they promised to their investors," Rafols said.

"Ning-sibat na gyud sila, dili naman sila kabayad, dili na on-time ilang payout, so suko na ilang investors sa ila. Sibat nalang sila kaysa dumugon," he said.

Rafols said that their activity became an investment "scam," which operations just started about six months ago.

Meanwhile, Rafols denied accusations from investors that they recovered from Dela Cruz an amount more than what they have declared.

He said this might just be a ploy to lead people to believe that they still are not closing the firm.

The Caraga police spokesperson urged investors to file a case against Dela Cruz and his cohorts, saying this might be the only chance to get their money back.

"Dili mi nila basulon. Sila ang nag-invest pero ang basulon ang gobyerno. Masuko gyud sila pero illegal man gyud. Mas maayo pa mo-complain sila kay pag-abot sa korte, mabahin-bahin pa nila ang kwarta," he said.

"We do not hold the money, it will be under the custody of the court because it will be used as evidence against the suspects," he added.
